Redwood National Park

Filed under:  — Jason Lustig @ 1:09 pm

I spent the night in Redwood National Park on my way to visit family in Oregon for Thanksgiving. The trees were covered in moss and ferns and the trail was littered with leaves. Tall Trees Grove was quite spectacular and definitely worth a visit. It was a scenic and relaxing hike. I stayed the night on the bank of Redwood Creek and watched the elk walk by just before sundown.

The Oak Tree Project

Filed under:  — Jason Lustig @ 2:32 am

“If people destroy something replaceable made by mankind, they are called vandals; if they destroy something irreplaceable made by God, they are called developers.”
- Joseph Wood Krutch -

After living nearly my whole life in the foothills surrounded by oak trees, I have gained a great respect for the oak tree’s twisted beauty. I am saddened with the thought of urban sprawl decimating the rolling hills and the majestic oak trees. Whenever I drive down the freeway through Folsom, I glance at the peaceful hills looking South. Someday, those beautiful rolling hills of grass and oaks will be developed like the North side. I have decided to dedicate a seperate photo portfolio to capture the oaks so I can always look back and remember how it was before sprawl.
